AIRGUN HUNTING: Intro to Hunting with the modern airgun
Airgun Hunting is a rapidly growing sport in the USA, and for good reason! Join Jim Chapman as he explores the reasons he hunts with an air rifle, discussing: the game, guns, ancillary gear, and techniques as he provides a comprehensive overview based on over two decades of dedicated Airgun hunting.
The reasons most hunters decide to hunt with an Airgun are typically to increase the challenge, to expand their hunting opportunities, or because of the practicality of using a quiet, accurate, appropriately powered and safer rifle for field work.
We’ll look at sidelever and bolt action rifles, single shot and multi-shot designs, and a variety of calibers ranging from the diminutive .177 to the .50 caliber sledge hammer! And the relationship between caliber and power will be explored. Remember that unlike firearms where the energy is generated by the cartridge, with Airguns it is generated by the gun, and Jim dives into the importance of this issue when selecting a hunting rifle.
The game hunted with Airguns is broad, and it is different state to state, and we’ll look at small game, varmint, pest control, predator hunt, and big game animals, along with the types of guns and gear used in the field to hunt them.
In addition to the video, viewers will be connected with some great online references to provide information and share experiences from hunts around the world!
