Ученые всего мира пытаются ответить на один вопрос — подлинная ли она или это дело рук искусного мастера. Каждый из исследователей мечтает во всеуслышание объявить, что Плащаница «заговорила» именно с ним. Но каждое открытие предыдущего противоречит заключению следующего — и в итоге все возвращается к начальной точке.
Известный фотограф Барри Шворц в 80-е годы прошлого века входил в группу исследователей Туринской Плащаницы. Под его руководством были сделаны уникальные кадры, запечатлевшие весь процесс работы ученых. Фотографии Шворца облетели весь мир. Видеосъемку тогда не проводили по настоянию Ватикана.
Силами других исследователей в небольшой компьютерной студии на окраине Кингстона, штат Нью-Йорк, воссоздали внешность Христа по очертаниям человека, оставшимся на Туринской плащанице. Это не арт-объект, а результат многолетней работы ученых и специалистов по компьютерной графике.
Джон и Ребекка Джексон более 35 лет работают над этой темой. Они предположили, что Христос не был заколот римскими солдатами на кресте — а либо умер до распятия, либо был убит после снятия с креста. К подобным выводам они пришли после детального изучения Плащаницы.
После проведения раскопок на Святой земле в 2010 году, израильские ученые подвергли сомнению подлинность Плащаницы. Они обнаружили частицы ткани, датируемые I веком — временем Христа и предположили, что это могут быть фрагменты подлинной Плащаницы.
По мнению наших специалистов, например, дьякона Владимира Василика — кандидата филологических наук, доцента исторического факультета Санкт-Петербургского университета, полученные материалы дают нам целый ряд подробностей. Плащаница, как «Пятое Евангелие» — свидетельство страшных страданий, которые пережил Иисус Христос. Мы можем видеть следы ударов при бичевании (их было 98), судить о числе палачей (2), о терновом венце, о пробитии рук через запястья…
Официальная позиция Русской православной церкви в отношении Туринской святыни озвучена Патриархом Кириллом.
Наша церковь по-прежнему держит нейтралитет по вопросу подлинности реликвии. В отличие от католической, которая в 2009 года отказалась признать подлинность Туринской плащаницы, а через год изменила свое мнение.
