1924 год. В маленький городок Чуйск на границе с Китаем возвращается из Харбина бывший золотопромышленник Астахов, сбежавший во время революции. Сопровождает его чекист Павел Самсонов. По договоренности с новыми властями, Астахов должен указать, где было спрятано все его золото, при этом 25 процентов он оставляет себе, а остальное отдает государству.

Операцией руководит начальник местной милиции Зимин — бывший жандарм, присягнувший на верность Стране Советов. Правда, мало кто знает, что на самом деле Астахов приехал не столько за золотом, сколько за дочерью Машей, с которой ему пришлось расстаться семь лет назад из-за вынужденного отъезда.

Астахов показывает тайник, и мешки складируют в хранилище бывшего банка. Однако ночью драгоценный металл бесследно исчезает! Для поиска пропавшего золота из Москвы прибывает чекист Борцевич…

На юге край подпирают Монголия и Китай, немного западнее — Казахстан. Местное население, алтайцы, еще помнят родной язык, молятся языческим богам, охотятся и собирают таежные дары – #кедровые_орехи.

В сезон на этих склонах и перевалах царит ореховая лихорадка. Нам удалось попасть в одну из бригад сборщиков шишек. Здесь — как в казино. Шансы у всех одинаковые, но результат обязательно будет разный.

I wanted to follow up Timelapse of the Future with a more optimistic perspective of human life and our place in the history of the universe. We really do live in a privileged moment and we have a remarkable opportunity to shape the future. Finding alien life will contextualize our own existence, and open our eyes to what else nature has dreamt up beyond our ourselves, potentially bestowing huge breakthroughs in science, technology, and philosophy.

Hace unos 12.000 años, el ser humano pasó de llevar una vida nómada como cazador y recolector a una vida sedentaria como agricultor. En esa época, en la Edad de Piedra, se erigieron impresionantes construcciones. La primera parte del reportaje de dos capítulos examina el trasfondo cultural de las obras de construcción y muestra las dificultades a las que se enfrentaron nuestros antepasados.

Hasta hace unos 10.000 años antes de Cristo, el hombre era cazador y recolector. Entonces se inició un cambio decisivo. La humanidad se volvió sedentaria. «Durante millones de años, los humanos vivieron como cazadores de animales silvestres y de repente sus vidas cambiaron totalmente. ¡Esto fue mucho más radical que el comienzo de la era digital o de la industrialización!», dice el prehistoriador Hermann Parzinger, presidente de la Fundación del Patrimonio Cultural Prusiano. Durante mucho tiempo, la ciencia supuso que la vida sedentaria fue la condición previa para las grandes construcciones. Entonces, el ya fallecido arqueólogo Klaus Schmidt descubrió Göbekli Tepe en el sur de Turquía, un complejo de bloques de piedra de hasta 20 toneladas de 12.000 años de antigüedad. Sus constructores eran todavía cazadores y recolectores. Decoraron los pilares de piedra con elaborados relieves de animales. Cómo se usaron los templos, a quién se le permitía entrar y a quién no, sigue siendo un misterio. Pero hoy sabemos que el complejo fue abandonado y cubierto de tierra después de que el ser humano se volviera sedentario. El destino de la humanidad tomó su curso. Con el descubrimiento de la agricultura y la ganadería los asentamientos crecieron en tamaño, se desarrollaron otras formas de alimentación y, en definitiva, comenzó la dependencia de los bienes materiales. Estos radicales cambios sociales al final de la era neolítica siguen influyendo en nuestras vidas en la actualidad. Todos están de acuerdo en que los monumentos de la Edad de Piedra son prueba de que la humanidad tiene una inclinación por la gigantomanía y un gran deseo de perpetuarse.
